Coach J, a resilient individual, was born and raised on the vibrant east side of Detroit, Michigan. Despite facing challenges, he has conquered them with unwavering determination. Raised by a strong single mother, Coach J grew up alongside his sibling, cherishing the values instilled by his family. Coach J was born with a debilitating condition called spinal bifida, which robbed him of his ability to walk.

From a young age, Coach J was drawn to the game of basketball, immersing himself in its beauty and camaraderie. At the tender age of 4, he embarked on his basketball journey, honing his skills and passion for the sport. For 14 years, he dedicated himself to the game, dreaming of playing at the college level.

However, life threw an unexpected airball at Coach J. Coach J developed a severe infection in his foot that cost him his basketball playing career and almost his life. Undeterred by this setback, he adapted to his circumstances and transformed his love for basketball into a coaching career. With unwavering resilience, Coach J has been coaching for the past decade, inspiring and guiding aspiring athletes.

Over the past four years, Coach J has successfully led an AAU program through Rochester Hills' prestigious Oakland Fieldhouse. Additionally, he took on the role of coaching the freshman high school basketball team at Lakeland High School, showcasing his expertise and dedication to the game.

In December, Coach J acquired a new vehicle with the necessary accommodations to support his mobility. Unfortunately, a catastrophic engine failure occurred after a mere few weeks, leaving him without reliable transportation. Despite seeking assistance from insurance and the dealership, a solution has yet to be found.

Currently, Coach J relies on his mother for transportation to and from practices and games, highlighting his unwavering determination to pursue his passion. His journey serves as a beacon of inspiration to those around him, showcasing the power of perseverance and the indomitable human spirit.
