So many people over the past few years have encouraged me to audition for "The Voice." I never doubted whether it was something I wanted to do or not. I can handle being turned down, it was the thought of disapointing my fans that kept me from applying. This year I decided to step up. I hope I am chosen so I can share the happiness that pours out of me in the form of music.
I have been a lover of music since the womb. When I got restless, my mom held headphones up to her tummy and calmed me with Beethoven, Billie Holiday and and the Eagles.
I picked up the fiddle at age 6 and find such comfort in it. Sometimes I take it to bed at night just so I don't have to let go.
I discovered my voice early on but didn't take it seriously until age 11.
After playing as the summer house band for a local bistro, my duo, Rocklyn Road hit the sidewalks and stages of five states. It was the fall of 2011... I was 12 years old. We played 26 shows every 6 week on average that fall and into the next years summer concert season. I couldn't get enough so we hit the road again. I toured through middleschool and kept up with my studies through an on-line public school program.
I am in love with being a singer, songwriter, entertainer and all the long days and nights that go along with it.
I will be 16 on Nov. 3rd. I would be honored to take you with me on this incredible journey. I will keep a video diary and share it with you upon my return. Auditions for "The Voice" are in four states this year, none of them are close to Washington. I chose the Memphis, TN location, as I have honorary grandparents near enough to lodge my mom and I through the audition process.
If you can afford to help me purchase airline tickets and other travel costs for this Jan. 23rd, 2016 audition, I would be forever greatful.
Thank you for your support,
Rocklyn
