This story is about a 3 year old dachshund Buster.
Last year he was diagnosed with genetic condition called cystinuria, which causes formation of cystine stones mainly from protein sources.
He had his first bladder stone removal surgery in April 2019, he's been on a special diet since then. Unfortunately stones came back in December 2019, that's when his vet recommended procedure called perineal urethrostomy, which reroutes his urethra to a new opening in his perineum, which is wide enough to help pass all the stones.
He had the surgery on December 27-th, and since then was recovering well.
Unfortunately he faced a new problem during his recovery, his nose got blocked, and right now he has trouble breathing.
His vet suggested that there is a piece of food or treat stuck in his nose, since all the x-rays of his body were clear, no visible obstruction in his throat, trachea or lungs.
He got sedated again on January 3rd, vet flushed his nose with medical solution, and a peanut sized piece of treat came out. There was a slight improvement in his breathing the next day. Unfortunately today he started to choke again.
Right now he needs a procedure called rhinoscopy with CT scan at a specialty hospital, which I can't afford anymore. Prices in LA start from $3000 just for rhinoscopy.
This is his last chance to live, that's why I'm asking you to help him. After everything he went through during his short life he deserves to have a long happy life.
