In the early morning hours of September 6, 2024, at 5:31 AM, Michael's life took an unimaginable turn. While riding his motorcycle, a car suddenly turned left in front of him, giving him no time to react. The impact was devastating, leaving Michael unconscious and not breathing, seizing in the ambulance, with multiple severe injuries: a broken neck (C4-C7 vertebrae), broken ribs, and a severe diffuse axonal brain injury (DAI)—one of the most traumatic brain injuries possible, affecting the connections between the brain’s white and gray matter.

Michael, a kind and gentle soul, is known for his big heart and brilliant mind. He is not only a man of incredible intelligence but also a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, and friend. Michael graduated with honors from Long Beach State with a degree in Management Information Systems and earned his MBA from Arizona State University with a focus in Management. He had dreams of joining the Air Force, always aspiring to serve and make a difference in the world.

His compassion for others has always been the driving force in his life, and anyone who has met Michael knows his kind smile, his gentle spirit, and the way he would drop everything to help someone in need. Now, Michael is the one in need of help.

Following the accident, Michael was rushed to the hospital and placed in the ICU. His injuries were life-threatening, and for days, he lay unconscious, intubated, fighting for his life. Through the grace of God and his incredible willpower, Michael survived—but the road ahead is long and uncertain.

Michael is currently relearning the most basic tasks—walking, talking, and remembering the names of loved ones. He needs 24/7 care as he begins the long journey of recovery, relearning to live life all over again. His broken neck requires him to wear a brace for 12 weeks, and his traumatic brain injury makes everyday tasks a struggle. He is working hard with physical therapists, neurologists, and medical professionals, but he faces an uphill battle. His gentle, determined spirit is pushing him forward, and though he remains hopeful, he cannot do this alone.

In addition to the emotional and physical challenges, Michael faces mounting hospital bills and the ongoing costs of rehabilitation and 24/7 home care after his release. He is a fighter, but he needs our support to continue this battle.

Michael's kind heart, his loving soul, and his dreams for the future still burn bright within him. God saved his life that day, and through faith, prayer, and the love of his community, Michael is working toward healing.
