Mochi's Hospital Visit

Hi everyone, my name is Amy, and this is our family dog Mochi. He is only 3 years old and has been with our family since he was born; he means everything to us! Mochi has helped me and my siblings get through quarantine and every transformative chapter of our lives since then. He's been with me through my high school graduation, community college, relationships, and, hopefully, my college graduation. Even though he has only been in our lives for three years, it has felt like a lifetime for us.

This past week, Mochi ingested a concerning amount of Cholrcalciferol Rodenticide (mouse poison), and we have spent over 10 hours at the vet since coming in last night. I stayed awake with him until 6 am this morning, cleaning up his vomit and monitoring his symptoms--unfortunately, he has been hospitalized today (12/7/23). With this detrimental progression in his health, we are expected to receive a large medical bill for his treatment and care. We managed to make a deposit of $1000, with a generous donation of another grand on top of that, for at least 48 hours at the emergency vet center, but his Veterinarian highly recommends boarding Mochi for at least 5-7 days. The cost is expected to be around 5k with the addition of his bloodwork tests and other treatments being done. The burden of these expenses is overwhelming, but losing a little brother is even more so, and we want him to receive the best quality of care he can get. With the expenses of my senior year at Michigan State University, I am unable to cover everything on his bill. With a heavy heart, I humbly reach out to my community for help. I wouldn't want anything more than for Mochi to come home safe, happy, and, most importantly, healthy.
