A Mother, A Protector: Michelle's Fight For Life

The pain in my heart is immeasurable as I reach out to you all for support. My mother, Michelle (or 'Shelly' to those closest to her), a beacon of strength, hope, and love, is now fighting for her life after a harrowing act of violence.

**Why Michelle?**

Michelle, despite being in a vulnerable state herself, using a cane for mobility, went to protect her lifelong friend – a friend who was recovering from a medical condition, scarcely able to walk, and living in fear of her own son's violent tendencies. With valor that only mothers possess, Michelle was the first to face the bullets as she stood between death and her friend. Tragically, they were both gunned down in cold blood, at close range. 

**Who is Michelle?**

To the community, she's a savior, continuously lifting young women out of domestic abuse and preventing homelessness. To her family, she's everything – a loving mother of three boys, a fierce grandmother to two grandchildren, and an unwavering pillar of support. Her acts of service aren't merely acts – they're embodiments of her gigantic heart.

**The Medical Challenge Ahead:**

Currently, Michelle battles in the ICU after being shot multiple times – in her abdomen and both legs. The medical complications are daunting: spleen removal, dialysis due to kidney failure, a blood clot in her brain demanding specialized neurological care, a broken knee needing surgeries and extended physical therapy and more.

**Why We Need You:**

Her limited health insurance falls painfully short. Our goal is $150,000 to ensure Michelle receives top-tier medical care:

- Extended ICU stays and post-hospital care

- Multiple surgeries, including specialized neurological procedures

- Dialysis and subsequent treatments

- Rehabilitation for her shattered knee and overall recovery

- Essential medical equipment and home modifications
