Medical and funeral expenses

Many of you know my fathers health has not always been pitch perfect. Being a diagnosed diabetic for 50 years, having 23 stents in his heart & suffering from various “heart episodes” for many years. The beginning of the year was & continued to be very difficult. The first hospital visit was for a stroke, a short month later he suffered another stroke which put him back in the hospital after he had left for a couple weeks. He was able to get his defibrillator/pacemaker in April which we hoped would make life much better for him. The day after receiving his machine he was rushed to Mount Carmel East because his incision had busted open. He told me later on that visit that the ambulance ride was the scariest thing he’d ever endured. He left the hospital after being in for a few days only too return two days later. This last visit was & will forever be the hardest. During this last visit he had a stroke that did damage, this stroke made his left completely immobile. My father has always been an outdoorsy guy, loving to just be in the woods. The sad reality came that he will not be doing that anymore. Today, we said our goodbyes before he passes. Today, we decided to turn that little machine off that is supposed to help him. He’ll now be found on the palliative care floor instead of the stroke floor, trying to make his last stretch as comfortable as we possibly can. His brain is all there, he can hold a conversation almost as well as he could have months ago. His heart is to hurt too be mended, & his kidneys can’t decide if they want to work or not. Today doctors told us he could live a few hours, a few days, or maybe even a month; that is up too his body. Due to the all natural burial that dad would like we will not have a "funeral ". That being said when the time comes we will hold a "Celebration of life" memorial.
