House Fire Relief

November 16, 2019 around 6:30pm Central I received a phone call from my mother. Her home of the last 5 years was engulfed in flames. My mother, her significant other, my younger brother, a roommate and his two  small children lived in the home.

The cause is undetermined at this point. The fire broke out and as they tried to exit the home they were unable to get out of the front door so they went to the back of the house and at one point were trapped as they could not leave the yard due to the fire spreading across the drive way onto the vehicles and to the neighbors, thankfully my moms boyfriend was able to get everyone to safety. The upstairs neighbors were able to get out safely as well. 

The did lose their family pets, house is a total loss, as well as vehicles and every article of clothing other than what occupied their bodies and pockets. My brother only had shoes because a neighbor kindly gave him a pair since he was barefoot in the cold. 

They as well as the rest of the family are grateful they are unharmed and alive but there is still deep hurt, sadness, and stress. They all watched their entire l lives burn to nothing, from years of collections, clothing, all their electronics, my brothers musical instruments, all her artwork, and items that can never be replaced like all her children's baby photos, videos, sentimental pieces, as well as the last items as she had of her late mother, and their pets. 

Its the Holidays, it's cold, and now they have to figure out a place to live(Red Cross has them in a room for the night), they have to start entirely from scratch.
