Steve’s Medical Care and Travel Expenses

I have known both these delightful people most my life. They both have such beautiful hearts for others. I can always see God’s hand in their lives and look forward to seeing how he continues to provide for them as they seek the best care needed for Steve.

This post takes me way outside my comfort zone! But I started this page to be more open about my struggles with chronic illness in hopes of helping others! So here it goes!

Those of you who don't know, these last few weeks have been incredibly stressful! But you see, sometimes people with chronic illness have someone they love become ill. It's always scary when someone you love is sick because you don't want your loved one to suffer. But if you suffer from chronic illness and pain you have the added fear of, " what am I going to do! He takes care of me! How will I be able to take care of him?" Well, that's where I'm at! My amazing husband of 34 years has stage 4 metastatic uveal cancer of the liver. It started out as ocular melanoma almost 6 years ago. It is extremely rare. He was treated with radiation and although it was very traumatic and his vision in that eye was lost, we were so relieved to hear the radiation was working and his tumor was shrinking. Every 6 months we traveled to Portland for check ups and here at home he had scans every 6 months to check for metastasizing to his liver! We made it to 5 years and his oncologists were so happy! 5 years was the goal! After 5 years the chances of metastatic uveal cancer went way down! Phew! We made it! Big sigh of relief. Well, here we are 6 years post surgery and we received the news! My amazingly husband who has so faithfully taken care of me through all my chronic health issues and many surgeries has stage 4 metastatic uveal cancer of the liver! What? How can this be! He is my everything! I won't lie, I have never been more scared in my life! But then something amazing happened! I felt the peace of God! I now know that God is going to be with me and give me the strength to take care of my husband and support him through this journey! I will be there for him just like he has always been there for me! And I can honestly say, it is well with my soul!
