Hello Everyone,
To all those who knew our dad Gilberto Carrillo and those who didn't get to meet him, here is a little about who he was:

He was a family man, always made sure his family was taken care of. He worked over 33 years at the Champlin Box Co. in Hartford, CT and then retired and lived in his homeland of Puerto Rico 20+ years.

The last 2 years have been difficult, not just for him but mom as well. Dad was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) which is a group of cancers in which immature blood cells in the bone marrow do not mature or become healthy blood cells. As a family we made the decision to move my parents to Florida so that dad could receive the best care possible at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

Dad started his 2nd round of chemo in September which was very strong. He was receiving blood transfusion and platelet transfusion every other week. In November he went back for another round of chemo which made thing more difficult for him. He became very sick and needed transfusions every 1-2 days. We made the decision "No More Chemo". On December 26, he was hospitalized and had to get daily transfusions which really were just sustaining his way of living. After having a family meeting with the doctor and social worker dad was moved to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, FL.

We are asking our family and friends for donations to help with funeral cost. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank You & God Bless You !
