Love for Ofelia and Devereux Family

We are starting this fund to raise money to support Ofelia Devereux and her family as she goes through treatment for a chordoma tumor…
On November 10th, Ofelia went to the hospital for some pretty routine surgery on her left arm to repair a rotator cuff and a bone spur causing lots of pain in her arm. Unfortunately, after surgery, her life was turned upside down when she suddenly lost feeling in her legs, and right hand and arm. Many tests and scans later, the doctors found a chordoma tumor in her neck. The tumor is on her spine and the pressure was putting her on the verge of quadriplegia. The doctors performed an emergency surgery lasting over 7 hours that relieved some of the pressure and about 70% of the tumor. She is currently recovering from the surgery but faces many more tests and surgeries to repair her spine as well as deal with the tumor.
Chordoma is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the bones of the skull and spine. It is part of a family of cancers called sarcoma, which include cancers of the bones, cartilage, muscles and other connective tissue. Chordomas are extremely rare with roughly 8 out of 10,000,000 being diagnosed a year. Chordomas are generally slow growing, and because of their proximity to the spinal cord, brainstem, nerves and arteries, they are difficult to treat and require highly specialized care.
We hope to raise funds to help support medical costs and other family costs for the Devereux family. Ofelia is a wonderful and loving mother of three beautiful children and married to Austin with whom she shares an obvious and true love.

I'm still in shock over most of this and all that I still have ahead of me. Most of all I am so grateful to be alive and able to thank my amazing family and friends that have helped out so much already! It helps so much to know my husband and children are being helped and cared for out there while I'm being taken care of in here. Be thankful for everything, count all your blessings for they can be ripped from you at any moment. I plan to fight as hard as I can to beat this and make a full recovery. I appreciate all the prayers I can get right now. God bless!
Please pray for Ofelia and her family, and please donate and support our friends/family!!!
