Help our Family

Hi, our names are Linda Manyara and Scott Fluegge and we are fundraising for our Mom, Michelle Fluegge who was unvaccinated and contracted COVID. She thought she was through it and all of a sudden her oxygen dropped to 66. She was immediately brought to the ER in New Ulm, MN. She was put on oxygen and had several tests done; this is when we found out Mom has Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). ARDS is a life-threatening condition where the lungs cannot provide the body's vital organs with enough oxygen. New Ulm realized that they couldn’t provide the care and a few hours later, she was airlifted to Abbott in Minneapolis, MN where she was in the ICU and on an invasive ventilator for 18 days.  

Mom is now in a Transitional Care Unit (TCU) where is she is recovering. There are many unknowns and the Doctors at Abbott said she is going to be a COVID long-hauler, but the main thing is she survived which we thank God for! A COVID long-hauler is someone that experiences long-term damage to the lungs, heart, and brain which increases the risk of long-term health problems. 

We want to thank all the medical professionals who put themselves on the front line daily to save those that are ill. 

Thank you for the thoughts and prayers and any kind of support would really appreciated. The money will be used for medical expenses going forward. 

**Side note – Mom wanted us to share this picture of her to show what it looks like to be on a ventilator. None of us knew what it was like beforehand and she wants the message to be heard that getting vaccinated is important not only to you as an individual, but to the loved ones around you.
