Our Mission
Many people living with a disability face the barrier of a lack of affordable medical equipment. Fortunately, we've found a solution!
Many healthcare facilities have usable medical equipment in the community that goes unused. Our club collects this unused equipment and redistributes it to people living with disabilities who are in financial need. We also accept medical equipment donations from the community, as long as they are in good condition.
Who are we
We are a non-profit run by a dedicated group of students at the University of Ottawa. A major barrier to equipment access is the significant cost of purchasing new equipment. MEC Foundation was created to collect unused good quality medical equipment from within the community and donate it back to people living with physical disabilities, free of charge.
Although we are primarily student-run, our work serving the community is made possible with the help of healthcare professionals at The Ottawa Hospital, the Spinal Cord Injury Ontario association (Ottawa location), Carefor, and The Mission in Ottawa.
Why donate
Since 2016, the Medical Equipment Collection Foundation (MEC) has worked tirelessly to distribute over 150 pieces of medical equipment for free to those in financial need. As a donor, you will have the chance to contribute to changing the lives of many members of the local community!
