Prayers for Preston

Welcome to our Prayers for Preston page. We are trying to raise money to help Preston's family with medical, healing and living expenses. The week of March 18th, Preston started complaining of mild headaches and just overall not feeling well. With no improvement, mom and dad took him to urgent care where they tested for flu and strep throat. Both test came back negative. Preston was sleeping a lot, as you would expect from someone who doesn't feel well. The only other symptoms he had was a low grade fever, never reaching over 100.6' F. On Friday, March 22nd, Preston woke up  unable to speak or walk. Mom and dad rushed him to the emergency room, where they ran a number of test and spinal tap, which all came back normal and negative for any abnormalities.  With no luck finding what was causing his symptoms and no improvement Preston was admitted to ICU unable to wake up.  An MRI was done and showed that Preston has a rare disease called autoimmune encephalitis. This disease occurs when your body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy brain cells leading to inflammation of the brain.  Preston still remains in ICU receiving treatment. Preston is still not able to talk or walk, although he is improving a little each day. He is now able to give thumbs up. This page is to help with the longevity of Preston's treatment, as it is still unclear how long it will be for recovery and what therapy will be needed. This money will provide support for the family as well as give some light to unanswered prayers. We are hoping that with each day Preston improves a little more. We are asking for your support to help this family with these hard times, and allow them to focus on recovery.
