Help John Beat Cancer

To everyone who knows John Bega and the bright, considerate and caring life he shares with those around him:

John is being put through a really difficult ordeal right now.

He is now hospitalized with a rare and fast moving blood cancer and everyone around him is acting quickly to stay ahead of it and find the best path for recovery. This new discovery has also resulted in a diagnosis of HLH which is an autoimmune response that is damaging his kidneys and other systems in his body. The combination of illnesses progressed quickly from discovery to immediate hospitalization and he has now begun chemotherapy and many other treatments. He is expected to be in the hospital for another 2 weeks and then face many months of ongoing treatment.

WE ASK IF YOU CAN HELP JOHN IN THIS TIME OF NEED. We are asking those who know him to help him and his family recover. Please contribute to this fundraiser if you have the means to do so.

This is a really tough situation for anyone to bear and there are very large financial implications.

The funds raised will directly support John and his family so they won’t be crushed by the overwhelming medical bills, illness-related expenses and loss of income.

Being a hard-working and dedicated freelancer has allowed John to work with many great teams and people and take a lead role in many incredible projects. However, it doesn't provide for any stability in times of crisis like this one. John will be incapacitated for at least 6 months as he is fighting this.

John is an outspoken advocate for conscious and progressive thought, culture and action. He has devoted himself to movements including asylum seekers and refugees through his work with his masters program and working with local groups in NY to help assimilate. John also was deeply involved in a group called Rise and Resist and helped to organize some of the largest protests in NYC regarding the awful policies of the last president and has also has volunteered with Black Lives Matter, Union workers, ethical treatment of animals, and many more. He is constantly seeking to better his community and the world around him. Being a huge animal lover, he is constantly helping foster and take care of cats and dogs in need.

He is a bright and incredible person who touches everyone around him in positive ways. More often than not, John is the calmest person in the room, putting out fires and helping out when others are overwhelmed and incapable. Now is our turn to do the same for him. Let’s please show him that we care and help him get through this incredibly difficult and painful period.
