Alyssa’s journey

I have known this wonderful ray of sunshine since I was in grade school. Alyssa has always been an energetic bright light to everyone around her. She has overcome many obstacles in her life and I know she will get through this one too.

In October, Alyssa was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is stage 1b meaning that the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. She will be traveling to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City for chemo treatments for 4 to 6 months followed by a double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, and radiation treatments.

Alyssa is a hairstylist with a difficult battle ahead, unable to work. On top of medical stresses, she will have travel, lodging, day-to-day life, current bills and unforeseen expenses to cover. Her loving dog Kane will be able to travel with her initially as a support animal but as a single woman she is naturally concerned about kane’s care throughout her journey.
