Evelyn's Recovery Fund ️‍⚧️

Hey friends!! Thanks for checking out my GoFundMe. My name is Evelyn Veronica Garcia. I'm a 24-year-old trans woman, social worker, therapist, and musician raising money for my bottom surgery recovery. I completed an appointment on Oct 23rd for my consultation with Dr. David Whitehead and have a follow up on April 23rd to check in and schedule the surgery. Although my insurance will cover the cost of the procedure, I am asking for $5000 as a financial cushion to assist with recovery since I will have to take a pretty significant amount of time off work and playing shows in order to recover to the point of being able to walk and be mobile once again.

For those of you who don't know, I have struggled with severe gender dysphoria regarding certain aspects of my body for a very long time. It has affected my personal life as well as my emotional well-being for years, and going through the process of getting this operation will be deeply affirming and important to me. I am currently in therapy to manage and treat my mental health struggles, and undergoing bottom surgery will bring me so much closer to the ideal version of myself that I am hoping to achieve.

I am mostly asking for this money as well as any physical aid that could be offered to assist me during the first few weeks of my recovery. Vaginoplasty is a very intense surgery, and I will be unable to work for a little while during the 6-8 week initial healing period.

This money would be used for basic food items, medical supplies such as bandages and ointments, and potentially to assist in paying my rent while I am off work. I have a very limited amount of PTO, so it would alleviate a great deal of my anxiety to be able to cover my housing needs while temporarily incapacitated, especially considering that without my apartment, I don't have a safe place to live and recover from this surgery.
