Kourtney's Senegal Summer Study Funding
Greetings,
I am Kourtney McLaughlin, a North Carolina native, currently attending Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, with a focus in Theatre Arts.
During my tenure at Spelman College, I have participated in numerous cultural activities that have broadened my horizons. Two of my most highlighted performances have been in Josefina Lopez's "Real Women Have Curves" and the tribute play "I've Known Rivers" for Reverend Joseph E. Lowry's 92nd Birthday Celebration. Currently I serve as an intern at Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre, and work at Spelman's Office of Alumnae Affairs. I have also worked with Live Your Art under the tutelage of Ms. Hilda Willis.
My reason for contacting you, is because I have been accepted into the Council International Education Exchange Sengalese summer program located in Senegal , West Africa, May-June 2014! I will study and experience first hand the history, culture, and way of life of the Senegalese people, allowing me to reconnect with my African roots.
I would like to ask for your financial assistance in making this life-changing experience a success. The total cost for this endeavor is $5,350; including program cost, tuition, airfare, and lodging. ANY contribution is appreciated. I am asking all contributions to be made by June 27, 2014 to fund expenses for this program.
I thank you in advance for your support!
