Road to Tokyo 2021
My story began when I first picked up a table tennis racket at the South Queens Boys and Girls club when I was 14 years of age. Homeless at the time, little did I know that table tennis would take me all over the world. Even giving me the discipline to complete two masters degrees.
I remember winning the Gold Medal at the 1996 Paralympics in my home country USA. Japan 2021 will be my 6th Paralympic Games!
I currently work as social worker to sustain myself and my family. However, of course the demands of table tennis training and the scarifies we make to reach the top level are immense. One of the requirements to be competitive is to train diligently thus requiring one to work less in their career. I have greatly diminished my work so that I am able to pursue my dream of once again standing on the medal stand with the Team USA flag raised!
I want to thank PONGPOD for their help and assistance in this tough journey. It’s been amazing and my results are getting better each day.
PINGPOD, a world class training facility. Olympic conditions. Physical training, mental and tons of practice. Looking forward to having you be part of this journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
