Medical and daily living expenses

March 1,2023 is the day that our family’s lives would change forever.

My husband Lamont went into the hospital for a “routine” back surgery. Two weeks later he was on a ventilator, 24 hour dialysis, and blood pressure medication.

We learned that one of the screws that was put into his back was contaminated, which caused a bacterial infection and sepsis /septic shock.

The heart medication that he was given, raised his blood pressure and pushed blood to his vital organs. This meant that the blood would not flow to his limbs properly (life over limb).

No blood flow to his legs and fingers caused the tissue to die (gangrene), and amputation was done to prolong his life.

He has been hospitalized since March 1st. 

Lamont was the primary “breadwinner “ for our family. He can no longer work and currently has no income. We are waiting for disability benefits to be approved. I work part time and unable to have full time hours because I care for our son who has Autism and epilepsy.

We have exhausted our savings and our bills are falling behind.

The funds will be used to pay for Lamont’s health insurance that we pay out of pocket for, our mortgage, and monthly expenses.
