There, but for the grace of God, go I.

Calling all Frankfurt Eagles, all open hearts, and givers. Recently, I received a call, from a dear old friend. We went to school with, back in Frankfurt Germany. Some of you will know her. Her name is Heidi. And, unfortunately, she's fallen on hard times.
Through tears, understandable fear, and embarrassment she described the situation and the financial hole she finds herself in... months without a steady income, two months arrears on rent resulting in an eviction notice, lapsed car insurance, accounts overdrawn, and her utilities are going to be next... and it goes on. She has exhausted all other resources including the pawning of valuable jewelry. It's not pretty folks. There's never a good time to be homeless. But now is the worse time to be living out of your car, on the streets of Chicago.
Now, while I may look like money to my kids, the reality couldn't be further from the truth. I told her that I can come out of pocket for $200 to $300. But to be effective here, to really help Heidi, to give her room to breathe so she can figure this out requires a heavier lift than I can muster. This calls for a group effort guys.
For me, doing nothing is akin to standing on dry ground and watching and leaving someone you care for to drown. God forbid you should ever find yourself in this situation, having to swallow your pride and reach out to someone, with your hat in hand. I'm a giver. And I am reaching out to other like-minded souls. If you have the means and are able and willing to do so, the opportunity is calling. Come to Heidi's aid... a Frankfurt high school alum, an old friend, a human being in need. Follow your heart.
Thanks
