4 Children Lose Parents in Tragic Accident
Donation protected
On January 3rd, 2021, my sister Susan and my brother-in-law Craig were traveling home from an ice cream date with their four kids when they were in a fatal auto collision.
Susan and Craig died instantly, and their oldest daughter, Bianca (16), remains in critical care. Their children Katarina (15), Craig Jr. (12), and Lucrezia (5) received medical clearance and are currently staying with church friends on a short-term basis. Susan and Craig were good and giving people, loved by so many in the community, and their loss is a shock to us all. We are overwhelmed in our sadness but also for the gratitude of friends who have stepped up to help as the full weight of this tragedy inevitably sets in. Right now, our priority must be to ensure the welfare and security of my surviving nieces and nephew.
Susan and Craig lived in the San Antonio area and the rest of the family resides in the Pacific Northwest. The geographical obstacles to assisting the children are of course further complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As we come together to support the children, we know that in addition to providing for their basic needs, we are also facing tremendous expenses in the near future, including:
• Making funeral and burial arrangements for my sister and Craig;
• Facilitating essential travel to and from Texas;
• Relocating the children to Washington;
• Ensuring that each of the kids has access to the healthcare they require for their recovery, both mentally and physically;
• Minimizing disruptions to their educations; and
• Obtaining legal counsel to protect them and their futures.
We understand that finances are stretched thin for everyone right now, but this crisis will have ripple effects reaching far into the futures of these children, and we are asking for your help. Please consider helping my stricken family with any amount you are able. If you are unable to donate, we simply ask that you share this fundraiser with whomever you can and keep Bianca, Katarina, Craig Jr., and Lucrezia in your thoughts and prayers.
