My mothers passing
Donation protected
Hi my name is Cameron Thames. It is with greatness that I share the passing of my mother Crystal Melton. Crystal was a single mother to 3 boys age 15, 17, and 18. My mom worked to take great care of her children by working at Bertie County Correctional Facility as a Sergeant for about 17 years. Although long hours were required and her safety was often at risk, she sacrificed so her boys would never be in need. We lived a great life with my very loving mother. She was known by some as shy with a bright smile. She poured into us daily and supported our sporting events despite her long hours at work. She wanted nothing more than to guide her children down the right path and and for us to take advantage of all opportunities that would benefit our future.
Sadly, my mother developed health issues during the Covid quarantine including a blood clot in her brain. Some attribute her medical issues to Covid or the vaccine. It really isn't clear why she fell ill as she was otherwise healthy. Despite this setback, she rehabilitated and returned to work as she had to sustain our family.
However, on July 25, 2023; she suffered what is thought to be a fatal blood clot in heart (heart attack). Me and my brothers are devastated as she was all we had. We know that it was very important to her that the 3 of us complete HS and then move on to better things.
We are continuing to live in the house where we were raised as different family members rotate staying with us to keep us safe and ensure we have everything we need. We would be grateful for prayers or donations as we prepare to continue to pay the rent and bills. Our plan is that all 3 of us will graduate and make my mom's dream for us come true. We will also be working to try our best to keep the rent and bills paid. We know it won't be easy, but with some help, we know that we can do it in honor of her spirit and dedication to us throughout our lives. We have set a goal of 25,000 to help us through this difficult storm. Thank you to all of those that reached out, donated, and sent condolences. It has meant so much to me and my brothers.
