London Marathon 2024
Several years ago, I decided to get fitter and started Parkrun, and found that running is infectious - I'm now up to my 158th run, and member of a great running club.
I turned 60 last year, and wondered whether I could go further, and run a marathon. I had run 10k's, 10 miles and half marathons before, so why not? I entered the 2024 London Marathon ballot, not believing I would even get a place. But I did, so on 21st April, I will be in London, along with thousands of other runners.
The next job was to consider a charity. I thought long and hard which one to choose but was swayed by the arrival of my first grandson in December 2023.
So as a thank you for looking after my son, daughter in law and bump throughout the pregnancy, the safe delivery of Sebastien and the after care they received, I have chosen the Maternity Ward at UHNM.
I want to say a big Thank You to the Midwives, nurses and support staff, and make a difference to the new arrivals. Whether it be for simple items like nappies, wipes, hats, or blankets, or more complex equipment. Every penny will help.
Thank You
