Faith and Love

It’s with my deepest sympathies and regrets that I have to write this about not just a man but a true legend and warrior for God. Life is not fair sometimes. The path that we desire and seek is not always our destiny, and certainly not God's plan. Stacey Massiah, a man with a heart of gold, compassion, love, and a fearlessness for life, has been called home to Heaven's gates as God needed him there for His divine plan.

When Joleah, Stacey's wife, and my sister, both were adamant about not creating a GoFundMe. They are proud people and faith-driven. And as Stacey said, creating this is me accepting that I’m losing the battle. As this sad news is dispersed, grievance spills out of our hearts. A piece of the puzzle to the lives he’s touched has been taken from us. I personally know that there have been many financial burdens for them during that time. Family has helped the best they could, but now we are asking for help for Joleah as she is left to pick up the pieces of their life and try to start again. There are going to be many financial burdens for her as she is processing her grievance. She has spent the last year of her life by her husband's side, maintaining her duties as a wife, but also taking on many more roles to ensure Stacey was as comfortable as he could be. She changed careers to take on an at-home job to be by his side through the thick and thin. Her strength through this has become a legend itself. At times, I did not even realize how bad certain moments were because of the composure she kept to keep Stacey calm. She truly showed what our mother has always taught us. A relationship is not 50-50. It’s always 100-100. The meaning behind this is when there is true love, it does not mean there will always be good days. There will be times when your partner will be struggling through life, whether it’s family issues, work issues, or illness. Whatever the case, that person may have a day, a week, a year, or more where they are not able to give even a small percentage. But if you have a true partner like Stacey and Joleah were to each other, you would understand that through this last year, she was there still giving 100, making the relationship whole still. I ask you to please help her. Her heart is shattered. She’s losing hope and feeling utterly crushed. I know money will not solve her issues, but it will allow her to finally grieve and be able to take some time off and just finally rest.
