Open Heart Surgery for David
Donation protected
Hi my sweet friends. As some of you know, we recently found out that my sweet grandson David has a congenital heart defect. At a routine physical the nurse heard a murmur, and after extensive testing with a cardiologist, it turns out the septal wall dividing his heart is almost non-existent. His surgery has been rescheduled twice, and he is now scheduled for open heart surgery on January 13th.
This whole thing has been like a train hitting our family. The kids had to be pulled from school weeks in advance of the original surgery date of January 5th, to quarantine them and prevent David contracting any kind of illness that would delay surgery. It has been challenging having two super active and social kiddos home alone during these cold weeks.
We are trying to focus our attention on staying balanced and in a place of gratitude and positivity. Even with insurance, the copay costs for surgery, testing, monitoring, physical therapy, etc. that will happen in the coming months is astronomical. In addition to that, Anna is not able to work the several weeks prior because of quarantine, and at least 6 weeks post-op, as the risk of infection for David will be high until his sternum is healed.
Anyone who knows our little family, knows how self-sufficient we usually are, but in this case we have to reach out to our community for any help you are able to offer. I will also include a link below for the mealtrain page if you would rather help that way. Of course, most of all we appreciate you taking a moment to send all of the healing thoughts, well wishes, prayers, candle lighting, and anything else you would like to our sweet David and our family, during this extremely scary and hard time.
