Help start our family
Donation protected
Hi everyone
My partner Tom and I (36 and 33) are asking for some help in starting a family.
After attempting to adopt in the NSW state system we were met with roadblocks and political interference that significantly decreases the chances for a same-sex couple to adopt.
Whilst we are approved as adoptive parents and foster carers, time is running out for us.
We have found a lovely surrogate in NSW to carry our child. Surrogacy in Australia is completely altruistic and neither party can profit from it.
However, it’s very expensive. A surrogacy arrangement in Australia with IVF can cost anything from $50,000-$100,000. This is compounded by our mortgage with very high interest rates, wage stagnation and skyrocketing cost of living.
We are asking for some help to become a family by requesting any donations that will be used to fully reimburse our surrogate for any costs related to the pregnancy and birth.
To be clear, we will not see a cent of this money. All proceeds will flow directly to medical appointments, medications, legal costs, clothes, bills, transport etc.
Any funds left over will be donated to a child or surrogacy-related charity.
We are grateful for any help.
