Ethan Streit's Fight
Donation protected
On February 10th our beloved 4 year old grandson, Ethan Streit, was admitted into the hospital for severe pneumonia and an uncontrollable high fever. After a number of days in the hospital and with a fever of 105, they found that Ethan’s poor little body had developed pleural effusion around his lungs. (Pleural Effusion is the build-up of mucus around the lungs in efforts to fight infection.) After being on a series of antibiotics that were ineffective, they decided that the best course of action was to operate in order to remove what they could of the infection.
On Friday February 23rd, Ethan went into a 5 hour surgery where they had to remove a significant portion of his right lung. Now out of surgery and although the infection remains, the doctors have decided to treat with antibiotics and a catheter to drain the fluids.
Ethan is currently at Loma Linda hospital in the pediatric ICU. He is in severe pain between the infection, surgery and now a void in his chest…more than a 4 year-old should endure! The staff has continued to move him every 2 hours to avoid any further infection settling in. This has been extremely painful for Ethan although it needs to be done in hopes of recovery.
For those that know Matthew (23) and Yessenia (22), they are amazing parents that recently welcomed their second child (Olive) in November. Now with one child in the hospital fighting for his life and one at home requiring new-born attention, they are stretched thin in every way to say the least.
Most importantly we ask for your prayers, although if there is any way you can monetarily contribute, it is sincerely appreciated! With Matthew being the sole financial provider of his family and currently out of work to tend to his family, any amount of support is appreciated!
