Jan Milburn (Gordo)

Gordo is a hard working 18 year old, christian young man. He has served his community by consecutively dedicating 50 hours a month in volunteer work  over  for the past couple of years. He is number 3 of 4 children. He works hard secularly to cover his own expenses, in doing this he saw the opportunity to make some money cutting down some trees for a friend. During this job, a branch fell on him from 20 feet fracturing his skull, causing a traumatic brain injury (two blood clots), a collapsed lung, and 3 broken vertebrae. This required major surgery that fused 6 vertebrae together in his thoracic spine. He now has 2 rods and 10 screws starting from T1 to T6 on his spine. He still has follow up appointments monitoring the blood clots by CT scan. His last CT in the hospital was stable, but they will repeat the scan April 8th to make sure his brain is healing as it should. Right now he is focusing on physical and occupational therapy where he is learning to use his motor skills again, and working on his short term memory. It will be a long road,  some days have proven to be harder emotionally, but he has maintained a good attitude despite his circumstances and he is willing to do what is takes to be himself again. He has a lot of support from his loving family and friends, and the doctors are optimistic about his recovery.  Hopefully he will be back to doing the things he loves such as snowboarding, enjoying the Colorado outdoors, and working very soon!

We appreciate all of the love and support everyone has shown so far. It is hard to ask for help. This fund will be used to cover Gordo's regular monthly expenses until he makes a full recovery and is able to return to work.
