Hackney Mosaic Project

Hello. My name is Mary Helena and I am the Chair of the Hackney Mosaic Project. This wonderful project, set up by Tessa Hunkin to help people suffering from addiction and other mental illness, has been running for more than ten years and has made many beautiful public artworks in Hackney.

We wish now to raise funds for a memorial mosaic for a friend of the Project, Billy Guedalla, who lost their battle with mental illness last year. Sadly over the existence of the Project several members have died and a mosaic is uniquely appropriate to serve as a memorial for those we miss greatly.

The mosaic will be installed in Butterfield Green in Stoke Newington, with the kind co-operation and consent of Hackney Parks Department. The local community have now agreed a design and we will keep donors updated as work progresses.

We would love to raise £5000, initially to make the mosaic described above, and to enable the Project to carry on to make yet more public art. Please donate to help us realise this ambition!
