Deepika's Medical Fund
Donation protected
I am writing this letter on behalf of my very close cousin sister, Deepika Lamech. She is twenty three years old and has been diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension since April 2011. She has a degree in IT engineering from M.G.R Engineering College Chennai. Due to her condition she has been unable to continue further with her career. Pulmonary Hypertension is high blood pressure in the arteries to your lungs. It is a very serious condition. A person diagnosed with this condition, the blood vessels that carry from the heart to the lungs become harden d narrow. The person’s heart has to work harder to pump the blood throughout the body. Overtime, the heart weakens and cannot do its job and leads to heart failure. As the condition worsens, the person finds it hard to do any physical activities. There is simply no cure for pulmonary hypertension. The treatment includes heart and lung diseases, medicines, and oxygen treatment. This fatal disease caused my cousin’s heart to fail. She has been medically managed for years and currently she is on maximum dosage of medicines and supplemental oxygen at home. She is unable to carry out her daily normal activities and cannot walk short distances within the house or climb the stairs. She has acute breathlessness.
Recently, in March 2015 she was seen by a team of senior cardio -vascular surgeons in Apollo hospital, Greams Road, Chennai, India. They carried out exhaustive tests and reconfirmed that Deepika's heart and lung function cannot improve further. They have advised heart and double-lung transplant. After careful consideration with family at home she has agreed to submit herself for the surgery.
As the cost is quite high, Deepika’s parent’s savings will not be sufficient. I request my family and friends who receive this note to make a financial donation in support of my cousin's surgery. We are comforted by all your prayers, love, encouragement and support. From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank you gratefully
for all of your generosity!
