Help to pay our electric bill

For those that don't know us, we are Hope for the homeless and we are a charity that operates on Union Street from the Garage cafe in Plymouth. We operate 6 days a week, and feed not only the homeless, but vulnerable, lonely, elderly people and veterans.

An average night for us, sees between around 50 and 80 people arriving in need of food, drinks, bedding, clothing, pet food etc.

As some of you know, the cost of living crisis hit us hard earlier last year with us nearly having to close. With the help of our fantastic supporters, we were able to keep going and have seen a huge support from members of the public and some local businesses who have been really generous with food and money donations.

Just as we were getting back on our feet last year, we were hit with an unexpected electricity bill which really threw a spanner in the works. One minute we had plenty of credit, and the next, we were owing several thousand pounds because they'd made a mistake with our bills.

After MANY phone calls with the electric company, they insist the bill is correct, which currently stands at £4000.

This is where our plea for help comes in! We know money is tight for a lot of people right now, but if you're in a position to be able to help with a donation, we'd be so grateful.
