Kathryn Donatelli Loves to Paint

For many years I have been living and working as an artist doing many types of work from mural painting and portraiture to still life, landscape and my own self expression. I've even taught mural painting to high school students and adult classes in color theory and portraiture. Throughout the years, in a manner of continuing excellence, I search for advanced classes to attend in drawing or painting. It's inspiring and invigorating to put myself in touch with other artists seeking awareness of what is going on now with our contemporaries. The classes I'm interested in talk about the elements in a painting that give a work of art it's charm, poetry, creativity, expression, structure and most importantly what makes a work of art masterful. All of these things inspire me and give me energy.
Since May 2012, I have been taking workshops in still life painting and portraiture and have completed more than 60 new paintings thanks to your donations. My work has taken on a whole new vitality and I am much more excited about my progress than ever before. Here are a few new paintings to show you what the workshops have done for me. I even won a Best in Show award from the California Art League in 2013 and many more awards since then.
I took a workshop with David Leffel, master portrait artist who's famous for being able to paint like Rembrandt. What a class. I came out supercharged. I now have a new goal of attending several more workshops and I need your help to make this happen.
Each workshop can run on average $450-$850 and that is quite expensive for me to afford at this time. I do believe these classes are essential in the next step to inform and refresh my artistic sense, to hone the professional quality of my work. Every time I come out of these classes I am so excited about my next commission because I can't wait to integrate the new things I've learned into my personal style.
