“Christmas Day in a Box 2020”

Five Children and Families Trust is a local charity who manage Speke and Garston Children Centres and a small nursery chain; we are appealing to our community to help make Christmas special for families.

A shocking total of 3,450 children across the Speke Garston Children Centre reach area are living in poverty.  This means that many families have only 60% of the average UK income that people were earning in 2011.

For these children, their parents struggle to provide for all their needs; many of these families are in work and still living below the poverty line. 

Christmas is generally a very stressful time for parents and with the added impact of Covid 19 we know that this year is likely to be more so, with many parents losing jobs and income.

We aim to ensure that at least 1000 children benefit, although it would be good support all the children living in these circumstances, through our “Christmas Day in a Box Campaign”.

Each family will receive food to prepare breakfast and Christmas Lunch, including treats, snacks and gifts for the children.

Also for the past 15 years we have hosted a Grotto, this year we plan to continue with tradition and host a socially distanced walk through themed Grotto so that our children do not miss out; our Grotto is FREE to families. More details will be published once our venue is confirmed.

Here are ways you can help:

·         Make a donation on GoFundMe, we estimate that an average “Christmas Day Box” will cost £65 so every little helps.

·         Drop off a toy, luxury food item or toiletry item to Five Children Centre, Conleach Road, Speke L24 or Garston Children Centre, 70 Banks Road, Garston, L19 8JZ

·         Give some time to help with wrapping, packing or food deliveries

·         Help us out with creative activities such as sewing or prop making
