Help Baby Kylie Schneider Fight Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Kylie Schneider is just 12 weeks old and up until Wednesday, September 20, 2023, she was healthy and thriving. She is absolutely adored by her mom, dad, 7 year old sister and their Wheaten Terrier.
On Wednesday, 9/20/23, she was admitted to the hospital for unexplained vomiting and when doctors could not figure out her illness, after running every test possible, an MRI was done on Friday, September 22, 2023. The results showed a 3 cm tumor at the base of her brain surrounded by fluid. Baby Kylie and her mom were then medivac’ed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She was set to have surgery that coming Monday but, when she experienced a seizure on Saturday night and stopped breathing on her own, they pushed the surgery to Sunday morning, September 24, 2023. The morning of the surgery, after a thousand kisses from her mommy and daddy, Kylie underwent major brain surgery to remove the tumor. After a 6 hour surgery, the doctors explained that they could not get the entire tumor due to blood loss but she survived surgery and was stable. On Monday, they were able to extubate her and she was breathing on her own. An NG tube was then placed to help with milk intake. Through all of it, Kylie continues to prove she is one strong little girl!
Unfortunately, after a post-op MRI and results from pathology, on Thursday, September 28, 2023, Kylie was diagnosed with an extremely rare type of pediatric brain cancer, atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT), that only affects children under 3. The type she has can unfortunately travel anywhere in her body. She is one of the youngest they have ever seen to have this type of cancer and the chemotherapy treatment is going to be intensive. Kylie is in for the fight of her life.
This GoFund Me is to help her parents with medical bills and any unforeseen expenses that may arise. They are also traveling an 1.5 hour back and forth between their home and CHOP to balance life with their 7 year old daughter.
Please help give Kylie a fighting chance at one day running around in the backyard with her big sister and puppy brother.
