Duncan Family House Fire
Donation protected
Friday afternoon August 19, 2022 the Duncan family ( Daniel,Kresta,Hudson and Brady ) lost their house and all their belongings . Thankfully Kresta smelled the smoke and was able to get herself , her two sons and their family dog out of the house and to safety with only the clothes on their backs .
Daniel was working 45 minutes away and rushed home to see the aftermath.
As a disabled veteran of the US ARMY who has done two tours overseas he has seen some things but seeing your house and all your belongings gone in front of your eyes is something you can never prepare for.
Not only did our family lose everything we lost a lot of important things to our son who is 8. Brady has autism and has a lot of sensory items and things that keep him feeling calm and safe , and those are now all damaged. It’s been a little bit of a struggle for him to understand that we cannot just go back in and get these things.
Hudson is 4 and is the sweetest little gem. He understands what happened but doesn’t know why all his toys and blankets are destroyed.
We are currently in an extended stay hotel for awhile . With donations we will be replacing sensory items , clothing and blankets for the boys replacing clothing for Kresta as well. It also help with other unforeseen expenses of having to start over.It will allow us to save up for first , last and security deposit on a new place when that time comes. And will also help with loss of income as I am the sole caregiver to our disabled son , so Danny has to help take care of all the insurance stuff and sorting out the house.
It will allow us to take the boys to do things like the zoo , trampoline park , etc , as they are cooped up most of the day in the hotel and are used to having a house and a yard to run around in. We want to give them experiences as best we can to help combat some of the trauma that has happened.
As a family we have a hard time accepting help but this whole experience has been very humbling and we know we need the help.
We are so grateful for our friends and family who have rallied to help us in the short term but we now have to look forward into the long term and are realizing we cannot do it by ourselves.
