Support The Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind People
The Leeds Society for Deaf and Blind People is struggling but has been looking for new ways to create income for the Centre so that we can remain open for the Deaf people and Blind people of Leeds.
We have raised some money recently and are looking at other options to keep the Centre going forward.
Any support to help us is gratefully appreciated!!
The Centre offers vital services to the Deaf and Blind communities of Leeds. Your support is valuable to keep it running going into the future.
People use this place for education, access to information, booking interpeters for British Sign Language (BSL) and most importantly of all, the wellbeing of our community with social events for all ages and all ability where all are treated equally.
For many of the Deaf BSL community, it is a second home where people meet, feel welcomed, understood, have access and make friends enabling them to have complete and fulfilled lives which helps their wellbeing and mental health.
Our Centre is the only place in Leeds which allows any person to come in during the working week and have a conversation with someone who can use BSL. We also offer many other social groups for people to attend for all ages.
We have many volunteers who come to support The Centre, helping with all of the following roles:
· Café workers,
· Creative crafts workers,
· Gardeners,
· Bar workers,
· Cleaners,
· Youth workers,
· Office support,
· Events organisers,
· Six out of seven of the board members have a hearing or sight loss.
The community would be devastated by the loss of this central hub which they treasure and care for.
Please give generously to this wonderful cause!
Help us to maintain our Centre!
Please share widely!
Thank you!
