Help my family to rebuild our house in Gaza

I am writing on behalf of my father Ali Tolba.

I have never thought that in the worst moments of my life, I would have to reach out to others asking for help to overcome the nightmare that my family and I are facing due to the war in Gaza.

My name is Ali Tolba. I am 70 years old and I am a former teacher who lives in Gaza. The ongoing war has left me and my family homeless, with nothing but the clothes on my back after being displaced from my home.

For 40 years, I dedicated my life for teaching. Upon retiring at the age of 60, I invested my savings into building a house to support my family in Gaza's challenging conditions, where basic necessities like electricity and clean water are scarce, and job opportunities for my college-educated children are limited.

Our house was built in 2021 and was more than just a residence; it was a home for me, my four sons (Fadi, Fida’a, Bashar, Saja) and their families.

In October 2023, we were forced to flee from our home due to the heavy bombardment on Gaza city, seeking refuge in Rafah city. Since then, we have been unable to return, and the streets of Rafah have become our shelter.

In March 2024, our house in Gaza was bombed and destroyed.

As we wait the end of the war, our anxiety grows, knowing that my family and I might be left homeless once again. After the destruction of the house, we have nothing - no clothes, no mattresses, no life essentials. 

With your support, we are aiming to rebuild a modest place to protect my family from the harsh summer and winter conditions.
