Support For Kym

It is with deep sadness that I write to let you know that Kym Hurley’s cancer has returned. A couple weeks ago, Kym went to the ER because she was having difficulty breathing. The doctors performed a series of scans and detected metastatic breast cancer in her lungs. The goal from this point forward is to slow the growth of the cancer and manage the symptoms. She has officially started hormone and immunology treatment yesterday and is feeling really positive about the plan.
After careful consideration, Kym has decided that she will be retiring in June. Retiring was not an easy decision. One of Kym’s greatest fulfillments in life has always been teaching children. She has taught for 30 years and would have taught another 30 years, if her health would have allowed it. It feels unfair that something that has brought her so much joy, is abruptly coming to an end. However, it is a necessary plan, so she can focus on the long road of treatments ahead.
Retiring at the end of the year was also not part of her family’s financial plan. She has a mortgage, bills, and a future she was planning for her beautiful children. We strongly need your support. Please consider donating what you can to support her family. This will be a forever journey for her and every dollar will make a huge difference to allow her to stay in her home, receive the necessary treatments, and allow her kids to continue the extracurricular activities that give them the joy and normalcy they deserve.
Kym would love to hear from you. She is currently navigating her health, financial, and emotional journey, so please understand if it takes her a little while to get back to you.
Kym is a wonderful mother, friend, co-worker, teacher, sister, and daughter. She deserves all the love, care, and support we can give. Thank you for your help!
