The Watson Family

A few months ago at Christen’s 20 week anatomy scan ultrasound, they heard the words that no parent ever wants to hear. “I’m sorry, but your baby has a heart defect.” Since then, over the past few weeks, they have had several more ultrasounds, fetal echocardiograms to confirm the diagnosis and severity, and an MRI to determine if Ellie Jane has lung damage. It has seemed like at every visit, they get worse news. Their baby girl, while still perfect in every way, has hypoplastic left heart syndrome, double outlet right ventricle, severe coarctation of the aorta, and an intact atrial septum. In simpler terms, she only has 1 ventricle (she’s supposed to have 2), her aorta is very small, and the wall between the top chambers of her heart is intact, meaning no blood can flow from one side to the other.

They MRI confirmed what the doctors were suspecting. On top of the heart defect, Ellie Jane also has lung damage. The pediatric cardiologists at CHOA have given them the option/recommendation of palliative care, meaning they will spend as much time with their sweet girl as they can after she’s born, keeping her comfortable, and loving on her until she goes to be with Jesus.

This is an unimaginable type of pain that no one should ever have to go through. With all of the extra doctors appointments and testing, the unexpected medical expenses, are starting to add up. With the permission of the family, I have set up this fundraiser to help off set some of the medical expenses and help take some stress away from Christen and Will. Please consider donating to help The Watson Family.

Over the next few weeks, please just pray for Christen, Will, Ansley, and sweet Ellie Jane. ❤️
