End Taxpayer Funded Animal Cruelty
Donation protected
It’s a SCREAM of pain, unearthly and unforgettable.
It’s the cry of a terrified or injured greyhound. These docile dogs are strong but delicate. Daylight is visible through the membranes of their long legs. Their skin rips like tissue paper.
At speed, they’re practically airborne. They fly more than they run. Forced to race in packs of eight, collisions and falls are unavoidable and frequent. Bones shatter. Their distress is pitiful.
It’s happening every day, out of sight and hidden away like the dirty secret it is.
Some dogs, exhausted by their ordeal on the track, simply collapse and die in the catching pens at the end of the race.
Six greyhounds killed in the last 6 months, 215 maimed or injured. And the Tasmanian taxpayer is helping to pay for this carnage!
These are not the actions of people who ‘love’ their animals? It’s abuse.
In 2022, the Tasmanian Government gave $6 million of taxpayers’ money to the Greyhound racing industry. They did so in defiance of the largest ever e-petition presented to the Tasmanian government – for any purpose.
We need your help NOW to end this support. The deed that funds the greyhound racing industry in Tasmania must NOT be renewed. We are a group of like-minded individuals who are trying to ensure that this grant of taxpayer money ceases when the deed expires, or before then if possible.
But we require your support. This Go Fund Me facility has been created to raise funds to help these dogs. The money will be spent on lobbying, research and advertising. Every cent will be accounted for, and any money that is left over will be donated to charities that help to re-home greyhounds that are discarded by the industry.
Please give generously knowing that next time you meet a greyhound in the park, you’ve contributed towards its rehabilitation.
