The Council of the Phoenix was formed to address domestic and sexual abuse and violence within the Pagan community by providing a national clearinghouse for:
Raising awareness of what constitutes domestic and sexual abuse, including abuse of minor children and adults.
Providing crisis counseling for families who are facing a crisis due to rape, child molestation or domestic abuse.
Assisting event coordinators, heads of covens, clergy and other Pagan leaders to provide safe places and resources for reporting abusive behavior and to address issues of domestic and sexual abuse.
Offering support for the creation of safe space in Pagan community to explore and learn about issues of consent, appropriate boundaries, sexual ethics, power and control, and sexual empowerment within a diversity-friendly, kink-aware, poly-aware framework.
We are a group of professional therapists, lay people, rape/domestic abuse survivors, peer counselors and concerned persons who are motivated to keep the sex-positive community of Pagans safe by educating and creating guidelines for anyone in the Pagan community who teaches, organizes festivals, or is any sort of group leader within the Pagan community.
Council of the Phoenix emphasizes the principals of integrity, compassion, fairness and accuracy in all of its associations with the Pagan community. We strive to be non-judgmental and fair towards both victims and perpetrators, regardless of gender or race. We advocate for safety first in the Pagan community. lk
