Donate to help me volunteer in Cambodia

Hey! My name is Sidnie and I’m currently a BSc Physical Education student at the University of Lincoln with the aspiration to be a Secondary School PE Teacher. Working with children is something I have a passion for and therefore volunteering abroad and doing all that I can to help give less fortunate children a shot at developing critical life skills is the least I feel I could offer.
Not only will the valuable skills that I learn benefit my future in teaching but the service I will offer will aid local children to develop skills that they will benefit from for the rest of their lives including the fundamentals of English, assistance with social integration and the development of motor skills.
Plan My Gap Year (PMGY) is an organisation connecting passionate individuals with the opportunity to teach English in Cambodia. I will be required to do all I can to make a positive change in an underprivileged community through education - teaching up to 4 classes a day.
The opportunity to learn and develop English is so low in this rural area that children are prepared to travel 7km each way for a 1-hour lesson daily. There is plenty of outdoor space at the project and I will spend a portion of my free time introducing the children to some sports and actively engage in what I am currently learning at University in a new completely different environment.
After much research, I would love to fly to Cambodia for 3 weeks at the beginning of January 2025. PMGY provides volunteers with safe accommodation, among other volunteers, encouraging me to meet many people from around the world with the same passion as myself, two meals a day, and airport transfers. I am looking to book this trip as soon as possible as flight prices will continue to grow. As you can imagine the cost of the project is large. My target of £1500 would help to cover my flights and the cost of my place with PMGY. Any donation big or small will help me massively to make a huge difference in some children’s lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read :)
