Hello Friends,
I am Nadiya Levchenko, and I hope to pursue a Doctor in Ministry (D.Min) degree in Evangelization at the Catholic University of America (CUA).
Some of you know me as I served as a DRE at St. Catherine Laboure Parish in Glenview, IL, for three years. Since July 2020, I have been a full-time faculty responsible for parts of the Pastoral Formation such as the Tolton Teaching Parish Program, CPE, and Filed Ed at the Mundelein Seminary, IL. I used to assign seminarians to the parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Diocese of Joliet, Peoria, and Rockford, supervise the progress, working with students, pastors, and lay committees at the parishes. Since 2024, I have worked at Holy Archangels Parish as Director of Lifelong Formation and at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago as Director of Continuing Education.
Working in the pastoral field, I see the need for growth and new cultural adaptation. The time of waiting for people to come to the actual buildings of our Churches passed. As a Church, we need to find a new approach to help Catholics re-find Christ. But how to be efficient in new Evangelization is unclear to many. I want to become more competent and effective in pastoral ministry. I want to be more helpful to seminarians and parishes I work with now and for the future work for our Church.
The Doctor of Ministry is a professional doctorate offering students advanced theological and pastoral formation for competent and effective pastoral ministry.
The D.Min. degree program runs once a year for fifteen weeks, between April 1 and July 15, for three consecutive years. It uses a blended learning model, thirteen weeks online and two weeks in residence on campus. The residency usually takes place around the first two weeks of June and is a mandatory program element. Students typically take three courses each year during each fifteen-week cycle.
CUA is a well-known University with a good reputation. I love the topics for courses in the D.Min program. Catechesis and Evangelization have been my field of interest and ministry since the beginning of my being as a Catholic. I want to know more and be more productive in sharing my faith globally and locally. The New Evangelization and effective pastoral ministry in our modern era are the new normal and the future of our Catholic Church. I want to learn more and bring Christ to others more effectively.
The details of the program you can find here: [LINK]
Core Courses would include:
- Reproposing the Good News: The New Evangelization
- Caring Conversations for Effective Pastoral Ministry
- Theology of Pastoral Leadership
- Context for Evangelization and Catechesis: The Domestic Church
- Ministry in a Multicultural Church
- Word and Sacrament: Liturgical Spirituality
- Doctor of Ministry Seminar
Concentration Courses in Evangelization:
- Mission of Evangelization in the Parish
- Evangelization in a Digital Age
- Evangelization and Emerging Adults
The program cost is about $26,000. Each year I will need to take 3 courses worth 3 credits each (1 credit = $900; 9 credits = $8,100 per year; $24,300 per 3 years for courses only). In addition, there is a room and board cost, travel expenses, books, and D.Min. Project and Treatise fees.
If you can help me to achieve these goals by supporting me with the tuition payments and becoming a better minister for our beloved Catholic Church would mean the world to me. And please be sure of my constant prayers for you and your families. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
