Help me get home to Australia

Hi everyone.

As some of you may know, I have been trying in vain to get back home to Australia since June 2020. I was staying in Russia to see my fiance Anna when the Covid-19 pandemic took hold globally and I was left stranded.

The Australian government’s arrival caps made it impossible for so many Australian citizens and residents to get home during the pandemic. Being stuck overseas also meant that I was cut off from any source of government support, meaning Anna and I have depleted any savings just to make do, on top of having to pay for an expensive Australian Visa for Anna so that we can return home together.

We carved out a life here in Russia and managed to make things work, and in July 2021 we received the great news that Anna’s visa was approved. Since then we have tried even harder to get ourselves a repatriation flight home, but had no luck as most of these flights sell out within seconds of their announcement. With hotel quarantine being scrapped for all vaccinated Australians starting November 1st, we saw this as the first real chance of getting back to Oz and beginning our new life there. Unfortunately, because Sputnik is the only available vaccine in Russia, we are still denied a pathway home.

The only remaining option is to fly to Serbia and to stay a month there to both receive the two shots necessary to allow us to travel home to Australia. Serbia is the only country close to Russia offering WHO and TGA-approved vaccines to foreigners. With our savings almost gone after almost two years of not being able to work or have any support, and with a long and costly journey ahead of us, I am asking for your financial support. We are trying to raise around $1500 dollars each for the tickets home and an additional $1000 to pay for our mandatory vaccine trip to Serbia.

Any amount we receive over will be used to really just get us started on our lives back in Australia, as we have no place to stay there as of yet and be starting from ground zero.
