Cheer Uniforms

I am a middle school teacher in Southwest Detroit. This year I have decided to coach 7th & 8th grade cheerleading for several reasons. One is the excitement my girls have for the chance to participate on a sports team. For many of our students this is their only opportunity to play team sports. Another reason I chose to become a coach in my district is to build a positive community in our school. Many of our students live in broken communities and do not have the chance to have positive life experiences. I want to be able to help build a positive community. I also believe team sports will increase parent involvement in our students’ personal and academic lives. However, there are no funds in our school budget to purchase cheer uniforms. We are asking for $350 to cover the purchase of a tennis skirt and a fitted t-shirt for each girl. Thank you in advance for your donation.
