Hi Everyone! Let me tell you a quick story about my strong, brave and beautiful sister Kari....
Kari decided this school year to brave a new career as a High School teacher in an alternative school for inner city kids. She has found her niche and is loving the new position. As the story unfolds, two days before Christmas, Kari finds a lump in her breast (ugh!). After biopsy and further testing she is unfortunately diagnosed with Stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. Yup... the story continues.
So off she goes for a bilateral mastectomy in the beginning of March and more challenging news is delivered. The doctors found multiple tumors and lymph node involvement (darn it!) So.....
Now what? Mrs. Kari is faced with the challenge of chemotherapy followed by radiation. This road to kicking breast cancer will be a long tenuous one with the chemo and radiation treatments lasting from April right into the summer. THEN (yes this keeps going).. she will need to complete her breast reconstruction when all of the treatments are completed.
Oh.. remember I started the story with a brave lady who is making such a positive impact with teaching inner city kids. Well because it was a new position she does not have sick time to last through this process (aka- no pay), no disability insurance because she wasnt at the new job with the kids long enough,
AND the fun part is while she is out she will need to continue to pay for her health insurance out of pocket! If not she will have no health insurance coverage.
Now. What does that mean for all of you supportive loving people coming to this gofundme site? She is going to need help to cover medical bills, insurance costs, and regular cost of living bills (yup... all those regular bills we all have to pay).
Please help me to support my loving, amazing, and strong sister so she can focus on beating this and not have to worry about the money side quite so much!
