Israel's Journey to Independence
Israel was born in 1998. He weighed just 1 lb. 15 oz. and was only 13 inches long. He spent approximately four months in the
hospital and underwent countless life-saving surgeries. He had bleeds on both sides of his brain and was eventually diagnosed with Cerebral
Palsy, Intractable Epilepsy, Hydrocephalus with bilateral VP shunts, Legal Blindness, Optic Nerve Atrophy, Sensory Integration Dysfunction, and is a
Pediatric Stoke Survivor.
Lori, his Mom, met him in 2000 and it was clear rather quickly what a fighter he is. Israel and Loris adoption was finalized in 2001 and he officially
became a Satterfield.
Through many surgeries, and ups and downs, Israel fought through. As determined as he is, there were many things needed to help him on a
daily basis. In December 2009, Is met his best buddy, Riley Tebow Satterfield. Riley, Israel's service dog assists him with balance and
mobility. Riley is also trained in seizure response and serves as a great companion for Israel during stressful times. Riley helped Israel through surgery after surgery.
As Riley recently turned ten years old, it is time to transition him into retirement and begin the process of training a new provider. Israel's new
provider was born December 27, 2019, and will be temporarily joining the Satterfield family in late spring and will join Israel full-time after his
intensive training. This transition could not come at a better time as Israel will be graduating high school in May and will enter the workforce this year.
However, these great companions come with an even greater price. As a long time friend of the family, I have watched Lori and Israel overcome sso many major struggles, but with God by their side, they always keep a positive outlook. We are asking anyone that can donate anything, every amount
adds up.
You see this Mom wouldn't ask for anything, but knowing her and seeing what she and Israel accomplish together, I know that any help will be greatly appreciated. We live in a small community, where friends help friends out when there is a need. If you can't give, please continue to pray for Israel and his Mom, Lori.
Thank you in advance.
