9-11 Hero From Bridgeport Needs Public’s Help
A 9/11 hero from Bridgeport is in critical condition following a car crash in Ohio.
Keith Ward, 60, is at University Hospital in Cleveland after police say he somehow lost control of his minivan and crashed outside of Cleveland. He was airlifted to the hospital, where he is in intensive care.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal honored Ward in 2017 for helping search for survivors at ground zero.
Ward, a construction worker, went to ground zero as part of a rescue effort organized by a local construction company.
His fiancée was also in the crash, but is said not to have been seriously injured.
His family says they're trying to raise money to transport him to a hospital in Connecticut so that he can recover near his family.
