Ana had no idea that the night her mom had a terrifying diabetic seizure would be the last time she saw her father.

The police officer arriving with the ambulance handcuffed her father, Luis immediately and refused to listen to any translation or to answer questions or listening to any family members. Luis only speaks Spanish and the officer only spoke English. He saw a Spanish speaking man kneeling beside his seizing wife and created his own version of events.

15 year old Ana and her siblings also watched their father leave in a police car. Mom left alone with 4 children, to recover from her seizure with no support.

The officers report that night charged their father with Assault on a female  - charges later disproved by medical reports and dropped.

A false report with baseless charges dismissed. But it was too late - once contact was made with the police system, Luis Castanon was trapped by the deportation machine and has been in Folkston Detention Center ever since that devastating night in September 2018. Long months without their father, the family breadwinner led to eviction.

His case has recently been assigned to a new judge. The lawyer representing the family is ready to file a Stay of Removal - something which has a strong chance of freeing Luis and reuniting this NC family.

Time is running out! Luis' last court date is in April 1st and the the lawyer MUST file before April for Luis to have a chance.

The need is urgent - we need $9,500 to file for a Stay of Removal. Please pitch in against the unjust  deportation machine and bring this family together again.
